LTI Pro for Brightspace by D2L - LTI 1.3

Overview

This article provides specific instructions for configuring Zoom’s LTI Pro for Brightspace by D2L.

Note: Please ensure that LTI Pro has been installed and you are signed in to configure LTI Pro.

Configuring LTI Pro on Brightspace by D2L

  1. Create a new credential or update a credential from LTI 1.1. to LTI 1.3. in the configuration page “Select which LTI version to use” choose “LTI 1.3“. Click “Save

    You will see an LTI Pro configuration page after clicking Save.
  2. Create a Client ID in D2L
    1. Login to D2L/Brightspace as an Admin
    2. Go to: Gear Icon → Manage Extensilibity → LTI Advantage → Register Tool
    3. Register a Tool using LTI Pro configuration data
      Refer to Step 1. on how to get to the LTI Pro configuration page which will be needed for this section.
      1. Set “Name“ what you want
      2. Copy “Tool Redirect URL“ in the LTI Pro configuration page to “Redirect URLs
      3. Copy the Domain of the “Target Link URL” in the LTI Pro configuration page to “Domain
      4. Copy “Target Link URL“ in configuration page to “Target Link URI
      5. Copy “Login Initiation URL“ in the LTI Pro configuration page to “OpenID Connect Login URL
      6. Copy “Public JWK URL“ in the LTI Pro configuration page to “Keyset URL
      7. Check Send Institution Role
      8. Click Register button

  3. Add D2L Client ID to LTI Pro Configuration
    1. Copy the Client Id after Tool has been Registered
    2. Copy the Client ID to LTI Pro
      1. On LTI Pro Configuration page go to: 3rd Party Credentials → D2L → Add Instance
      2. Add domain used to access D2L to “LTI D2l Site Domain
      3. Copy D2L Client Id to LTI Advantage Client ID
      4. Click Save
  4. Add Tool to D2L Course
    1. In D2L go to: Gear Icon → External Learning Tools → LTI Advantage → New Deployment
      1. Tool“ choose the the tool at the step 2
      2. Enter the “Name“ what you wnat
      3. In Security Setting Check “Org Unit Information“, ”User Information” and “Link Information
      4. Click “Add Org Units” and choose which course can use this tool and click Add
      5. Click “Create Deployment

    2. Create Links by clicking View LinksNew Link
      1. Enter “Name“ what you want
      2. Copy “Target Link URL“ in LTI Pro configuration page to “URL
      3. Click “Save and Close” button
    3. Go to Course that you want to add tool to
      1. Click “Content” in top navigation in course
      2. Under Table of Contents click the module that you want to add the tool too (you may need to Add a module)
      3. Click Existing Activities → External Learning Tools → Choose the Link you created in step 4.2

  5. Launch LTI 1.3
    1. Click the link to the tool that was added in Step 4.3
    2. After launching LTI 1.3. you should see something like this:
